William Pesek is an award-winning Tokyo-based columnist writing on economics, politics and business for Nikkei Asian Review, The Washington Post, Politico, Reuters, South China Morning Post, Forbes, Livemint, Quartz, Straits Times, Japan Times, Chosun Biz and others. He was executive editor for Barron’s Asia, where he opined and spoke throughout the Asia-Pacific region. Before that, he was Asia columnist for Bloomberg View, Washington DC-based writer for Barron’s, New York-based reporter for Dow Jones Newswires and American Banker and Bond Buyer newspapers. He wrote the 2014 book "Japanization: What the World Can Learn from Japan's Lost Decades." His awards include the 2018 prize for excellence in opinion writing by the Society of Publishers in Asia.
